KATSEYE nominated for Best Group at the MTV VMAs, competing with Coldplay and others for the award
KATSEYE, a girl group formed by HYBE and Geffen Records, has expanded its list of award nominations at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMAs), an American music awards ceremony.
In the list of nominees released by the MTV VMAs on the 29th (local time), KATSEYE was nominated in the "Best Group" category. This is their second nomination, following their previous nomination in the "PUSH Performance of the Year" category.
The lineup of artists vying for the "Best Group" award is impressive. KATSEYE will be competing against a number of renowned groups, including Coldplay, My Chemical Romance, Backstreet Boys, and the Jonas Brothers.
BTS won the "Best Group" award for four consecutive years, from 2019 to 2022. In 2023 and last year, BLACKPINK and SEVENTEEN were honored with the award, respectively.
This year, KATSEYE reached No. 4 (as of July 12th) on the Billboard 200, the US's main album chart, with their second mini-album, "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS." Tracks from this album, "Gabriela" and "Gnarly," also achieved success by ranking within the ranks of the Hot 100, the main song chart.
Three of KATSEYE's songs maintained their positions on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global chart (dated August 22nd-28th), the world's largest music streaming platform. "Gabriela" reached No. 28, marking its 10th consecutive week on the chart, and "Gnarly" reached No. 78, marking its 17th consecutive week on the chart. "Touch," released in July last year, ranked 159th.
The MTV VMAs are one of the four major American music awards ceremonies, along with the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. This year's ceremony will be held at the UBS Arena in New York on September 7th.
