Visa-free entry into China increased 52.1% year-on-year in January-August: Chinese media report

The number of people entering and leaving China through border checkpoints across the country rose 14.9% year-on-year to 460 million (total number, same below) from January to August this year.
Of these, mainland Chinese residents increased by 15.4% to 220 million, and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan residents increased by 11.2% to 180 million.
The number of foreigners also increased by 27.8% to 51,268,000. Among them, foreigners who entered under visa exemption measures increased by 52.1% to 15,890,000, accounting for 60% of the total number of foreigners entering the country.
During the same period, border control agencies nationwide inspected a total of 8,429,000 vehicles used as means of transportation for entry and exit, including airplanes, ships, trains, and cars, an increase of 16.2%. Of these,
Air travel increased 17.1% to 662,000 flights, train travel increased 4.9% to 71,000, ships increased 3.8% to 294,000, and cars increased 16.4% to 23,452,000.
