PayPay now available in Korea, partners with KakaoPay - Korean media

Kakao Pay, which provides mobile payment services, Alipay Plus by Alibaba Group, a major Chinese e-commerce company, and Japan's PayPay are collaborating to provide payment services.
It has been revealed that the service has been launched, allowing Korean "Kakao Pay" users to make payments at "PayPay"-compatible stores in Japan.
In addition, Japanese PayPay users can now make payments at KakaoPay-compatible stores in Korea. PayPay is the largest payment service in Japan, with approximately 70 million users, so it is expected to become a popular payment service in Korea.
The number of Japanese tourists visiting South Korea in the January-July period of 2025 is expected to reach 1.92 million, making it the second largest number after China.
KakaoPay is not only PayPay, but also Vietnam's Zalopay, which was launched in September alone.
It has partnered with payment services such as Nayapay in Pakistan and Humo in Uzbekistan.
The service is also being expanded to include South Africa. Kakao Pay said, "In Japan, Kakao Pay launched its service as its first overseas business in 2019. Based on the close cooperative relationship that has continued since then,
