According to News 1, the White House announced on the 1st (local time) that Brian Quintenz
Quintenz as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
He is a former CFTC commissioner and head of cryptocurrency policy at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a large Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
His nomination had previously been supported by the cryptocurrency industry, but the Wink Lubos brothers, founders of Gemini, who have political lobbying power.
Gemini is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the United States, and its opposition to his nomination played a major role in the decision to withdraw the nomination.
He plans to return to the private sector. He told Cointelegraph, "I'm delighted to be nominated as CFTC chairman.
