BTS' RM collaborates with San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, becoming the first K-pop artist to do so

RM of the boy band BTS is embarking on an unprecedented collaboration with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
On the 3rd, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art announced the news of the special exhibition "RM x SFMOMA" in collaboration with RM.
The exhibition will run from October 2026 to February 2027 and will showcase over 200 pieces from RM's personal collection and the museum's holdings.
The exhibition organically connects conceptual contexts, offering a glimpse into RM's artistic sensibility and collecting aesthetics. It is particularly noteworthy that RM will be personally involved as a curator.
This exhibition marks the first collaboration between the museum and a K-POP artist since its founding.
The exhibition will be jointly planned by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and RM.
RM said, "We live in an age defined by boundaries. I hope this exhibition will be a place to reflect on the boundaries between East and West, Korea and America, modern and contemporary, and the individual and the universal."
He continued, "There is no set way to appreciate the work, but I hope that it will serve as a small but definite bridge for many people."
"Visitors will be able to view RM's beautiful and contemplative collection of paintings and sculpture alongside our own collections and engage in a dialogue between them," said Janet Bishop, head curator of the exhibition.
"This will be an unprecedented opportunity for people to experience the art of Korea," he said. The RM Collection includes many works by world-renowned artists, including some of Korea's leading contemporary artists.
