Average daily arrivals and departures over National Day and mid-autumn festival holiday expected to exceed 2 million - Chinese report

Cross-border travel is booming during the National Day and mid-autumn festival holidays. According to the National Immigration Administration, the average number of people entering and leaving China each day during the holidays is expected to exceed 2 million.
During the holiday period, Hong Kong and Macau will host large-scale events such as fireworks displays and concerts, while Shenzhen will host cultural and travel programs such as a gourmet festival, offering cross-border cultural and travel experiences, leisure and shopping opportunities.
According to the Zhuhai border control station, the number of people entering and leaving the country through the local border control stations during the same period reached 6.16 million, a 35% increase over the same period last year.
Currently, China has unilateral visa exemptions for 47 countries and mutual visa exemptions for 29 countries. In addition, the number of countries eligible for transit visa exemptions has expanded to 55.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign visitors entering and leaving Japan from January to August this year increased by 27.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 51,268,000.
