Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo: ”Have you not seen the movie 'The Outlaws, the Devil, the Cop'?... The Cambodian situation is the responsibility of the political world” (South Korea)
Regarding the recent scandal involving Cambodian criminal activity, former Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo strongly criticized the issue, saying, "The root cause of the problem lies in the entire existing political world."
On the 18th, former Mayor Hong posted on his social media, "It is not the fault of any political circles, but the collective responsibility of the existing political circles who divided into camps and were only focused on fighting.
"The creation of a world where people pray for temporary good fortune, rather than a world where people can live happily, has led young people to end up in Cambodia's crime-ridden complexes," he said.
He continued, "Even now, we should not shift the blame to each other and create a healthy youth culture.
Before criticizing the young people (who went to Cambodia) and Cambodia, we should come up with a fundamental solution to why they were driven into a corner.
Hong, referring to the movie "The Outlaws" starring Ma Dong Seok and the TV series "Casino" starring Choi Min Sik, said, "Such crimes are committed in the Philippines, Vietnam, and other countries.
Despite the fact that it was stated (in the film) that this was the case, what has the Korean political world been doing up until now when they have not taken any measures?"
