He continued, "We plan to take necessary measures, such as sending a congratulatory telegram through diplomatic channels.
"As the 'shuttle diplomacy' exchange with Japan, which faces the past while moving towards the future, is restored, we will continue to maintain the foundation of the Korea-Japan relationship that has progressed with the new prime minister, while at the same time continuing active exchanges.
It is our government's position that this is the case." At present, it has not been confirmed whether South Korean presidential office or government officials will attend Takaichi's inauguration ceremony as prime minister.
