Kang Yong-seok, co-star of the movie ”First Ride,” Cha Eun Woo (ASTRO) contacted him from the military... ”He said he discovered my talent”
Actor Kang Yong-seok, who starred in the film 'The First Ride', recently received a message from Cha Eun Woo (ASTRO) while he is serving in the military, sharing his recent situation after enlistment and bringing laughter.
Kang Yong-seok gave an interview at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 24th, ahead of the release of the film 'First Ride'.
"The First Ride" features Tae-joong (Kang Ha-neul), the guy who sees things through to the end, the bright Do-jin (Kim Young-kwang), the handsome Yeon-min (Cha Eun Woo), the betrayed Ok-sim-bok-bok (Kang Yong-suk), and the adorable Ok-sim (Han Seo-na (formerly of Secret)), a group of friends who have been together for 24 years and are entertaining when united, embark on their first overseas trip.
Kang Yong-suk, who plays the betrayed Kum-bok, made headlines after winning the role through an audition process with a competition rate of 1 in 800. Notably, Kang Yong-seok’s character, Kum-bok, is wildly unpredictable and full of mischief, yet possesses a generous spirit that understands his friends. Influenced by his mother being a monk, he takes the unique path of becoming a monk himself. In the drama, Kum Bok is set to walk the path of a monk, and Kang Yong-suk even shaved his head for the role.
At a recent press conference for 'First Ride', Kang Yong-seok revealed his regret that Cha Eun Woo, who is currently serving in the military, was unable to participate in the promotional schedule together, and left a humorous message for him, saying, "If you get leave, please contact me," which drew laughter.
When asked if he had received any contact from Cha Eun Woo since then, he replied, "I did receive a message from Cha Eun Woo recently. Apparently, he was recently given a mobile phone (in his unit)." He added, "He left a message in the 'The First Ride' group chat saying, 'I'm cleaning the toilets and sorting rubbish right now'. He said he'd found his talent and was good at cleaning," causing laughter to erupt.
He added regretfully, "Unfortunately, I'm cautious about contacting him personally and haven't been able to ask him out."
Regarding Cha Eun Woo’s appearance on set, he said, "We had a lot of fun together while filming. We went to an internet cafe together and had fun playing games. However, he is such a busy friend that it wasn't easy to meet him privately. He actually showed me his calendar once, and his schedule was really packed."
He also shared his impressions of actually encountering his handsome visuals. "When you meet him in person, it's even more different. He seems like a different kind of person," he said, adding, "His bone structure really seemed different from mine. I envy Unu's parents. I can't become like him even if I wanted to, so I envy his parents," he said, drawing roars of laughter.
He continued, "He has the kind of face I really want. Anyway, he was really handsome," adding, "Even when he came to the set after staying up all night, his face was glowing," which drew more laughter.
"The First Ride" will be released in South Korea on the 29th.
