A former police officer who leaked information about the investigation into the late Lee Seong Kyu (INFINITE) has been sentenced to prison. According to the legal community on the 3rd, the prosecution announced this during a hearing before Judge Kim Sae Byul of the Incheon District Court Criminal 11Exclusive.
At the closing hearing held on the same day, the prosecution demanded a three-year prison sentence for Detective Aformer, a man in his 30s who was indicted on suspicion of leaking official secrets.
Prior to this, Aformer Detective Inspector Lee Seong Kyu (INFINITE) will be married in October 2023.
He is suspected of taking a photo of a document (investigation progress report) detailing the progress of the investigation into the suspected drug case, forwarding it to two reporters, including Mr. B, and leaking it.
The report includes the names, criminal records, status, occupations, etc. of the people involved in the drug case involving the late Lee Seong Kyu (INFINITE).
The personal information included was later used by the police. After being dismissed, the police inspector Aformer appealed the dismissal decision and filed a lawsuit against the Incheon Police Agency Commissioner General to have his dismissal overturned, but lost the first trial.
Detective Aformer's sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place at the Incheon District Court on the afternoon of the 17th of next month.
