Jeju Air to increase Incheon-Osaka route to seven flights per day (South Korea)
South Korean low-cost carrier Jeju Air announced on the 5th that it will increase the number of flights on the Incheon-Osaka route to improve convenience for travelers from South Korea and Japan.
Jeju Air has increased the number of flights between Incheon and Osaka from four times a day to seven times a day since the start of the winter schedule on October 26th.
It is the airline with the most flights between Japan and Korea. In addition, the Osaka route, on which Jeju Air has increased its flights, is also the route most frequently used by passengers traveling between Japan and Korea.
According to tourism statistics from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), a total of 8,817,765 Koreans visited Japan last year, and 77.9% of those who visited for tourism purposes are expected to visit Japan twice in 2024.
More than 100 people visited Japan, with Osaka being the most visited region at 32.7%. Meanwhile, the Osaka route is also a route with high demand among Japanese tourists. Last year, 100 people departed from Japan via Jeju Air and visited Korea.
Approximately 470,000 Japanese tourists departed from Kansai Airport in Osaka, accounting for 29.5% of the total.
Jeju Air is also increasing the number of flights on the Incheon-Osaka route, which is helping to stimulate demand for revisiting Korea among Japanese people.
A Jeju Air official said, "The Incheon-Osaka route is one of the most popular routes for travelers from both Korea and Japan, and the increase in flights will allow for a more diverse schedule.
"We are now able to provide this service," he said, adding, "We would like to increase our presence on Korea-Japan routes through continuous route expansion and improved passenger convenience."
