Illegal drugs found in Chinese tea packages on Jeju coast (South Korea)
Illegal drugs have been found in Chinese tea packages on Jeju Island, South Korea. According to the Jeju Regional Coast Guard on the 10th, the drugs were found in Guja, Jeju City, around 9:30 a.m. on the same day.
An object suspected to be an illegal drug, packed in an oolong tea package, was discovered on the beach of Aewon Town, Jeju City on the 24th of last month.
The substance was reportedly in a package similar to the green oolong tea package found on the beach in Aewol-eup, Jeju City on the 6th of this month.
The incident was reported on the 10th. The object picked up by a citizen was also reportedly in a tea package. The Coast Guard plans to conduct a simple reagent test on both objects.
Prior to this, on the 7th of this month, about 1 kilogram of suspected illegal drugs was found in a tea package near Yeongdampo-gu, Jeju City.
A body was found. A simple test confirmed it was ketamine. If the object discovered on the 10th is also confirmed to be ketamine, this means that 3 kilograms of illegal drugs have entered Jeju's coastline in just five days.
One kilogram of ketamine is enough for about 3,300 people to use at the same time. Illegal drugs have been discovered on Jeju Beach a total of eight times in the 40 days since September 29th. All of them were found in tea packaging.
They have something in common: they contain about 1 kilogram of ketamine, sealed in individual containers. They are located from eastern to western Jeju. Seongsan, Seogwipo City
They have been discovered by citizens, anglers, and environmental beautification workers in Seongsan-eup, Aewol-eup, Jocheon-eup, Jeju Port, and Yongdampo-gu.
