Actor Oh Young-soo, who was given a suspended prison sentence in the first trial for allegedly indecent assault on a woman without her consent, was found not guilty in the appeals court.

On the 11th, the court of appeals for the non-consensual indecent assault case against actor Oh Young-soo overturned the first-instance ruling of eight months in prison with two years of probation and declared him not guilty.
The court stated, "Approximately six months after the non-consensual indecent assault in this case occurred, the victim sought counseling at a sexual violence counseling center, informed several close colleagues of the incident, and demanded an apology from the defendant."
Considering that the defendant sent a message requesting sexual assault and that the defendant apologized in response, it is suspected that the defendant committed the indecent assault alleged in the lawsuit."
He continued, "However, the passage of time may have distorted the victim's memory, and as stated in the appeal, it is not clear that the defendant committed the indecent act.
"It is difficult to say that the fact that he committed any of the crimes has been proven beyond reasonable doubt," he said, explaining his verdict of innocence. "When there is doubt, the judgment must be in favor of the defendant."
Prior to this, Oh Young-soo stayed in the provinces for about two months in the summer of 2017 for a theatrical performance, and in August of the same year, he hugged the victim, Ms. A, on a walking path, and in September, Ms. A
Oh Young-soo was indicted without detention on suspicion of committing indecent acts without consent twice, including kissing A on the cheek, in front of A's residence. It is true that Oh Young-soo held A's hand and visited his residence, but it was not an indecent act.
He denied the charges, saying he had never committed any sexual assault. However, in the first trial, the court found the victim's testimony to be consistent and sentenced Oh Young-soo to eight months in prison, suspended for two years.
They were also ordered to complete 40 hours of treatment for the condition. Meanwhile, Oh Young-soo won the 79th Golden Globe Awards for her role in the Netflix series "Squid Game" Season 1.
He was the first Korean actor to win the Best Supporting Actor award at the awards ceremony.
