President Lee calls for large-scale solar power construction... National Assembly debate held today = South Korea
As South Korean President Lee Jae-myung teases the expansion of renewable energy sources such as solar power, a discussion session will be held on the promotion of agricultural solar power and rural energy transition.
Rep. Park Jeong, Rep. Lee Won-taek, Rep. Lim Mi-ae of the Democratic Party of Korea and the "Energy and Space" and "Energy Transition Forum"
A discussion on the theme of "How to promote energy transition that will revitalize rural areas" will be held at 10 a.m. on the 13th at Garnet Hall on the second floor of the FKI Tower Conference Center in Yeouido, Seoul.
Prior to this, the government raised its initial renewable energy target (78 GW by 2030) through the national policy agenda of "Great Energy Transition Centered on Renewable Energy."
At a press conference on September 11th, 100 days after taking office, President Lee Jae-myung emphasized that "we should build large-scale solar and wind power plants that can be completed in one to two years."
The national policy agenda includes the theme of "Great energy transition centered on renewable energy (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy)," and the promotion of solar power generation in industrial complexes, agricultural areas, water areas, parking lots, and public land owned by local governments.
The content includes diversifying the locations of power plants. In addition, the national policy agenda with the theme of "Rural areas leading balanced development and energy transition (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries)" includes the promotion of planned locations.
The plan includes measures to expand agricultural solar power generation through deregulation of farmland and agricultural corporations, as well as a plan to develop 500 "Nikko Income Villages" led by local communities.
In relation to this, at the discussion meeting on the 13th, Son Da-won, a researcher on energy and space, and Park Jin-hee, co-chair of the Energy Transition Forum,
The representative will give a presentation on agricultural solar power. The panel discussion will be chaired by Kim Yun-seong, representative of Energy and Space, and will feature Park Hae-cheong, director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Ahn Ok-seon,
Ng Ok-seong, researcher at the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Kang Hee-hwan, chief of the RE100 Support Team at the Energy Division of Paju City Hall; Lee Young-jae, secretary general of the Asan Hansalim Farmers Foundation;
Lim Jae-min, Secretary General of the Energy Transition Forum, will participate in the panel discussion. An Energy Transition Forum official said, "We will simultaneously increase farmers' incomes and promote the spread of renewable energy."
Agricultural solar power, which can be pursued in a short period of time, is attracting attention as a way to solve rural problems, but it faces conflicts and limitations such as residents' acceptability, bias towards certain crops, regulations, and the unclear boundaries between public and private roles.
"At the discussion meeting on the 13th, we will clarify the roles of the public and private sectors and seek a cooperative system to ensure the stable spread of agricultural solar power, as well as discuss the role of the public and private sectors in the stable spread of agricultural solar power, including field crops and fruit trees.
"We will present various possible models and discuss practical measures to resolve conflicts among stakeholders," he said.
