When I called a designated driver, the man sitting next to me was drunk (Korea)
In South Korea, a man in his 50s was arrested by police after a customer reported him for working as a designated driver after drinking alcohol. According to the Incheon Central Police Station on the 12th, the police were arrested in violation of the Road Traffic Act.
A man in his 50s, A, was referred to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of drunk driving. Suspect A is suspected of driving a passenger's car while drunk at around 2:20 a.m. on the 25th of last month, for about 40 kilometers.
It was confirmed that while driving, suspect A accelerated to 150 kilometers per hour on a highway with a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour.
Police who responded to Mr. B's report and were dispatched to the scene measured Suspect A's blood alcohol level, which was below 0.03% and resulted in the driver's license being suspended.
Mr. B claims, "As the warning bell continued to ring due to the acceleration, I looked at the face of the substitute driver and saw that it was the man who had been drinking at the bar next to me."
As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that Suspect A was providing driving services through an app called "Kakao T" and had a history of being punished for drunk driving several times in the past.
During police investigation, suspect A stated, "After drinking, I rested at an internet cafe and thought I had sobered up, so I accepted a call for a designated driver."
