The company has decided to proceed with the construction of the framework for the 5th production line (P5). The company is preemptively securing a production line in anticipation of a surge in memory demand over the medium to long term as the AI era gains momentum.
The center is scheduled to be fully operational in 2028. Also noteworthy is the investment in areas outside the capital region.
Samsung SDS, the main operator of the consortium, plans to build a large-scale AI data center in South Jeolla Province. The center will accommodate 15,000 servers by 2028.
The government plans to secure graphics processing units (GPUs) and supply them to academia, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, etc. This will support the government's goal of global AI G3.
In addition, Seung SDS is planning to build a large-scale AI data center at its first factory in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
Samsung Electronics is moving ahead with the construction of a domestic production line for the Flect Group, which it acquired earlier this month.
(Gwangju) is a leading candidate location. The company also plans to promote the expansion of human resources. Samsung SDI is promoting the establishment of a domestic production base for all-solid-state batteries, the so-called "dream battery."
The Ulsan plant is being considered as a possible location.
