The 58th Joint Meeting was attended by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Governor Oh Young-hoon, former Foreign Minister Park Jin, and Korea-Japan Cooperation Commissioner Kim Ki-byeong.
More than 70 people will be attending, including the association's chairman (chairman of Lotte Tourism Development), Lee Dae-soon, chairman of the Korea-Japan Cooperation Committee, Taro Aso, chairman of the Japanese side, and Koichi Mizushima, Japanese ambassador to Korea.
Chairman Kim said, "As we mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, it is especially meaningful that the joint meeting of the Korea-Japan Cooperation Committee is being held in Jeju, a representative site of Korea."
He said, "I hope this conference will be an opportunity to further strengthen understanding, cooperation and trust between Korea and Japan for the future."
The Japan-Korea Cooperation Committee is a private organization established by President Park Chung-hee in 1969, and is a forum between Seoul and Tokyo to facilitate personnel exchanges and resolve issues between the two countries.
It has been held alternately in the capitals of both countries.
