President Lee Jae Myung: ”Unification is a constitutional responsibility”... ”We can communicate with North Korea through any channel”

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said on the 23rd (local time) that "unification is our ultimate goal and constitutional responsibility," and that "we will continue to hold dialogue with North Korea at any time and through any channel."
President Lee, who is currently visiting South Africa to attend the G20 summit, spoke with Turkish state media Anadolu Agency ahead of his state visit to Turkey.
In an interview, he stressed, "Our government's vision is clear. It is the beginning of a new era of peaceful coexistence and common prosperity that transcends hostility and conflict."
He added, "Peace is not impossible," and "Through determination and cooperation, we can restore trust and resume dialogue,
President Lee also spoke about relations with China. "Korea has a simple relationship with the United States and China," he said.
"Rather than a 'balanced diplomacy,' we will pursue a pragmatic diplomacy that focuses on national interests and responds swiftly to changing circumstances," he said. "South Korea will also work with China to create new areas of horizontal cooperation."
He continued, "In terms of security, we must ensure regional stability by maintaining friendly relations with China, centered on the future-oriented ROK-US alliance, so as not to trigger an arms race in Northeast Asia."
"We will play the role of a bridge," he emphasized.
