South Korean government posthumously awards the Order of Culture, Gold Crown to the late Lee Seung-jae, the ”eternal active player”
The South Korean government has posthumously awarded the Golden Crown Cultural Medal (1st Class) to the late national actor Lee Soon-jae (91 years old at the time of his death), who passed away on the 25th, in recognition of his achievements.

Since his debut in the play "Beyond the Horizon" in 1956, Lee has been the oldest active actor in his career spanning more than half a century.
He has established a solid reputation as a leading actor. He has not only appeared in TV series, but also in over 140 productions across a wide range of fields, including theater, entertainment, and situation comedies.
His compassionate attitude and warm personality earned him immense support and affection from people of all ages. Furthermore, through his work nurturing the next generation and parliamentary activities, he has gone beyond the boundaries of the art world and is a cultural and artistic leader who fulfills his social responsibilities.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hui-young presented the medal to the family on behalf of the government on the same day.
