Production company CONTENTS HAAP has fully unveiled the six character posters for the play ‘Secret Passage’ via its official SNS, having previously teased fans with shadow silhouettes alone.
The play ‘Secret Passage’ tells the story of two individuals who meet in an unfamiliar space, having lost their memories of their previous lives. Through a book filled with their intertwined memories, they explore the bonds and death within the small gap between life and death, and the revenge against the cycle of repeated lives.
The newly released character posters feature Yang Kyung-won, Kim Sung-ho, and Kim Sung-kyu, who play the male lead "Dong-jae" – a man who seems to have shared intimate moments with someone for an unknown period. Dressed immaculately in shirts and jackets, they gaze intently forward with complex expressions, surrounded by countless overlapping yet distinct shadows.
Meanwhile, Lee Si-hyun, Oh Kyung-joo, and Kang Sung-ho, portraying the man "So-jin" who begins bombarding questions in an unfamiliar space, appear clad only in thin shirts. Amidst the same multitude of shadows, their gazes convey an emotional depth that defies simple explanation.
This character poster, conveying the profound question faced by "Dong-jae" and "So-jin" – who have experienced life and death repeated over an immense span of time – "When exactly can we die completely?" – through the shadows passing through them and the actors' refined gazes and emotional lines alone, offers a suggestive glimpse into the dramatic density of the play ‘Secret Passage’ and is drawing significant attention.
The play ‘Secret Passage’ is based on ‘The Loophole Meeting Room’ by Tomohiro Maekawa, a leading playwright and director in Japanese theatre who has won Japan's highest theatre award, the Yomiuri Theatre Award for Best Director and Best Production. Maekawa, whose works include ‘Jellyfish’ and ‘On the Beat’, and ‘Repairing the Living’. Production is handled by CONTENTS HAAP, a theatre production company renowned for developing fresh, original narratives and achieving commercial success.
Yang Kyung-won, Kim Sung-ho, Kim Sung-kyu, Lee Si-hyun, Oh Kyung-joo, and Kang Sung-ho will each take on multiple roles, tackling challenging character performances to portray the play with sensitivity, sharpness, and at times, humour.
Emerging as one of 2026's most anticipated plays, 'Secret Passage' opens on Friday, 13th February next year and runs until Sunday, 3rd May at the NOL Theatre Daehak-ro Main Stage.
