Seungkwan of SEVENTEEN, a former member of Cheju Island, has been appointed as a public relations ambassador for his hometown of Jeju.
On the afternoon of the 19th, Seungkwan attended the commissioning ceremony held at the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Communication and Cooperation Center in Jeju City.
This ceremony was especially meaningful as Seungkwan, a former member of Jeju, was recognized for his contributions to promoting the region globally.
At the appointment ceremony, Seungkwan said, "Since I was a child, I have felt proud to be a Cheju Islander. When I had the opportunity to speak at the UNESCO Youth Forum last year, I decided to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
"I had a strong desire to introduce Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, where I grew up. I am deeply grateful to have been appointed as a promotional ambassador for Jeju."

After the appointment ceremony, Seungkwan participated in the Jeju Hometown Love Donation and lent his support to the protection of Jeju's southern dolphins. He said, "I had been thinking for a long time about how I could contribute to Jeju, and this

In his speech at the time, Seungkwan mentioned that Jeju was the first region in the world to be designated by UNESCO in three natural environment categories simultaneously.
In September, Pledis Entertainment, the management office of "SEVENTEEN", held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Jeju Provincial Government to promote K-POP Jeju content.
The two parties will work together to promote the Jeju cultural tourism industry and K-POP Jeju content production, and to promote the development of Jeju Province and PLEDIS.
