The film "From the Point of View of an Omniscient Reader," starring actors Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-Seop, is continuing to perform well at the box office in Hong Kong, following its success in Taiwan.
"From the Perspective of an Omniscient Reader" is about the day a novel that has been serialized for over 10 years comes to an end, and the world of the novel becomes reality, leaving only one reader
A fantasy action film in which Kim Deok-ja (Ahn Hyo-seop), a former hero of the novel, tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic world with his friends, along with the protagonist Yoo Jun-hyuk (Lee Min-ho).
"From the Point of View of an Omniscient Reader," which was released in Hong Kong on July 31, took first place in overall box office revenue on its opening day.
The film's opening week box office gross exceeded HK$3.1 million, beating "Tombbreaker/Pamyo"
It was the highest grossing Korean film released since 2021. "From the Perspective of an Omniscient Reader" was released in Taiwan on July 23rd, surpassing "Along with the Gods: Crime and Punishment."
As of August 5th, it is still ranked second in the box office in the Taiwan region, and is expected to reach 100 million yen by 2025.
It is currently number one at the box office among Korean films released in the region, and is accelerating its momentum as a long-term hit. Although it surpassed 1 million viewers in Korea in 14 days, the pace is slowing down, and it is not showing up overseas.
It is encouraging that box office results remain strong. "From the Perspective of an Omniscient Reader" was pre-sold in 113 countries worldwide prior to its release, raising expectations for its international release and sales.
The film is doing well in Hong Kong as well as Taiwan, so attention is focused on whether it can recover from its poor performance in Korea.
