On the 13th, TVING and content production company YLAB officially announced the planning and development of "Study Group" Season 2.
Hwang Minhyun has also confirmed his appearance in season 2, raising fans' expectations.
"Study Group" is a comic high school action drama based on the webtoon of the same name by webtoon artist Shin Hyun-wook.
The TV series tells the story of Yoon Ga-min (Hwang Min-hyun), who is better at fighting than studying, who throws himself into the bloody battle of the entrance exams at the worst school and forms a "study group."
Season 1, which was released in January, was the number one new paid subscriber for five consecutive weeks on TVING, and gained immense popularity.
Beyond Korea, the drama has received a huge response from viewers in 143 countries, proving its potential as a global hit.
YLAB expressed their aspirations, saying, "We are pleased that 'Study Group' has been recognized for both its box office success and artistic value. Through Season 2, we will further focus on expanding the IP and making it a super IP."
In addition, the funding for the "YOO SUN Technical High School Windbreaker" worn by the character in the film, which was released on the 8th, received a lot of attention in just three days.
In October, the "Study Group" collaboration cafe will be open for a month, and the "2025 World Webtoon Festival" will be held at the Lotte World Mall pop-up store.
A pop-up booth is also being prepared. YLAB said that they plan to collaborate with various brands to expand their contact with fans until the release of Season 2.
Hwang Min-hyun will enlist as a social service worker in March 2024 and is currently serving. He has just finished filming season 1 of "Study Group," his last project before enlisting.
The show gained immense popularity after its broadcast, making the absence of his military service seem like a total omission. He is expected to immediately begin filming for season 2 after his discharge on December 20th.
The "Study Group" webtoon has been running since January 2019, and season 3 is currently underway.
