"Polaris," which is scheduled to be released on September 10th, was announced at the Creators' Day event held at Yongsan CGV at 2 p.m. on the 20th.
The film was unveiled through a talk show. Jeong Seok-young, who was present at the event, spoke about the film's departure point and behind-the-scenes stories, describing it as "a work like a supercar."
Jung said, "It was right after the end of 'Sisters,' which I worked on with director Kim Hee-won. Seeing the production team's level of perfection, I felt like I was riding in a supercar.
"I thought I had to lay the best track this time," he said. "The director suggested a romance TV series with a powerful woman, but at first I wasn't confident.
However, I continued writing with the feeling that I couldn't escape the room unless I tried. And so it expanded into a large-scale international spy romance TV series."
He also said, "I wanted to portray international conspiracies and threats, taking advantage of the unique characteristics of Korea as a divided nation. I wanted to write a story that deals with modern issues, not ideologies of the past, and that moves forward, not backward."
He particularly mentioned the cathedral scene in the film, saying, "I was surprised to hear that the art director was going to build a cathedral set. I wanted to show the process of building a house with faith."
"It was similar to making a llama. That scene ultimately led to the ending," he said, adding, "It was a set that disappeared, but we were able to complete a beautiful ending."
"Polaris" is a story about Moon Joo (Jung Ji Hyeon), an internationally renowned UN ambassador, and Sang Ho (Kang Dong Woo), a special agent of unknown nationality, who are involved in the assassination of a presidential candidate.
This is a spy romance TV series that tells the story of a man who delves into the mystery and confronts a huge truth.
