BTS' SUGA's 5 billion won donation is the result... Severance Hospital's ”Min Yoongi Treatment Center” opens today (30th)

BTS' SUGA's wish has become a reality. The Min Yoongi (SUGA's real name) Treatment Center has finally opened, providing new life for children and their families.
On the 30th, Severance Hospital announced the official opening of the Min Yoongi Treatment Center on the first floor of the Jejungwan building.
The opening ceremony was attended by Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop, Yonsei Medical Center President Keum Gi-chan, and Lee Kang-young.
The event was attended by Professor Jeong Geun-ah, Director of Severance Hospital, Professor Kang Hoon, Director of Severance Children's Hospital, Professor Ahn Suk-kyun, Director of the Department of Mental Health at Severance Hospital, and Professor Jeong Geun-ah, Director of the Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center.
Kim Young-ji, chairman of the Autism Love Association, and other external stakeholders were also in attendance. The center was established with 5 billion won donated by BTS's Suga to Severance Children's Hospital in June last year.
Inside, there is a speech and behavior therapy room as well as a music and social group therapy room equipped with acoustic and soundproofing equipment.
In the waiting area, there are artworks by Lee Gyu-jae, an artist with autism spectrum disorder.
Since last year, Suga has been meeting with autistic children together with Professor Jung Geun-ah and providing musical service through guitar and other activities.
Based on this, the world's first university hospital developed the MIND program, an arts-integrated treatment and independence system.
"MIND" is a music-based group where children can choose their preferred instrument and gain social experience while participating in an ensemble.
This treatment program has been recognized as effective even for children who have difficulty communicating verbally. The center has a staff of child psychiatrists, music, speech and behavior therapists, and clinical psychologists.
Director Jeong Guna said, "The Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center is a hub for arts-integrated treatment that encompasses music, art, and physical education."
"This will not only improve the effectiveness of treatment, but will also play a major role in improving social awareness of the disorder," he emphasized. Severance Hospital plans to expand the center in the future as demand for the program grows.
The company plans to relocate the facility to a new location and also focus on developing specialized human resources.
