半導体の重要な技術を中国に渡そうとした40代、空港で捕まる=韓国
A man in his 40s was arrested at an airport while trying to hand over important semiconductor technology to China (South Korea)
Police have arrested a man in his 40s for allegedly leaking key semiconductor technology from a major Korean company overseas. According to police, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Industrial Technology Security Investigation Unit on the 16th charged him with violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
A man in his 40s was arrested and sent to the prosecution on suspicion of misappropriation (leaking trade secrets overseas). The man was accused of stealing a memory card with a much higher bandwidth than conventional flat memory in order to leak technology overseas.
The man is a former employee of a company that supplies precision materials to major Korean semiconductor companies.
The technology is reportedly one of the technologies that increases the capacity and performance of semiconductors. Police say that the man who retired earlier this year leaked the technology he learned during his employment abroad and is planning to depart for China.
On the 9th, the police made an emergency arrest of the man at Gimpo Airport as he was leaving for China, and secured his custody after receiving an arrest warrant from the court.
Following the arrest and indictment, police plan to continue their investigation into whether the technology in question was actually transferred to overseas companies, such as China, and whether there were any accomplices.
