North Korea is inviting foreign tourists to its Pyongyang Trade Fair, restricting access to some media personnel
North Korea has begun recruiting foreign tourists to take advantage of the Pyongyang International Trade Fair to be held in October.
However, participation will be limited to media personnel, travel content creators, and influencers. Young Pioneers, a China-based company specializing in North Korea tourism, said
On the 6th, Young Pioneer Tours announced on its website that it will be hosting tourists visiting Pyongyang for a 7-night, 8-day trip from October 24th to November 1st.
The travel agency said, "This is an opportunity to be one of the first foreigners to visit Pyongyang for the Pyongyang Trade Fair and Myohyangsan Tour," and added, "By supporting the issuance of visas, we will be able to participate in the Pyongyang Trade Fair as well as the Pyongyang Trade Fair."
"They will also have the opportunity to explore the capital and become the first Western tourists to visit Myohyangsan for the first time in five years since the 2020 lockdown."
According to travel agencies, the Pyongyang International Trade Fair (PITF) will be held in Pyongyang from October 27 to 31.
The event will be held at the Okryu Exhibition Hall and other locations. Tourists can attend both the opening and closing ceremonies and view machinery, IT, energy, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, daily necessities and more at over 450 exhibition booths.
In addition, you can visit tourist attractions such as the Pueblo, the Tower of Juche, and Kim Il Sung Square, ride the subway, shop at local department stores, and tour the latest streets of Pyongyang.
The trip is also included in the program. In particular, a trip to Myohyangsan is included in the itinerary. The travel agency says that the trip to Myohyangsan will include a tour of one of the few remaining Buddhist temples in North Korea, a cave experience, and the highest level of tourism in North Korea.
However, the travel agency said that, as per instructions from the Expo, media personnel, travel content creators, and influencers will not be able to participate in this tour.
Prior to this, North Korea allowed Western group tourists to visit the Nasong Special Economic Zone in February for the first time in five years since COVID-19, but the reason for the sudden suspension less than a month later was unclear.
At the time, it was said that some influencers who were part of a group tour posted images of the situation inside North Korea on social media, and the current measures are intended to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
This is interpreted as a reason not to return it.
