Former President Yoon Seok-yeol not leaving detention room... Special prosecutor to ”arrest by 2pm tomorrow” = South Korea
The first compulsory arrest trial of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who did not respond to a summons from the special prosecutor's team, Cho Eun-seok, who is investigating allegations of civil unrest and foreign exchange related to the emergency law.
Special Prosecutor Park Ji-Yeon said in a briefing on the 14th that he had received word from the Ministry of Justice's corrections authorities that it would be difficult to command the arrest of former President Yoon.
Special prosecutor Park said, "We tried our best, but former President Yoon did not comply at all and refused to leave the holding room. Considering that he is a former president, we did not have the means to use physical force."
"It was difficult for me to accept this situation," he continued. "Former President Yoon served as a prosecutor for a long time and knows more about investigative work than anyone else. I had never thought of this situation and I couldn't accept it.
Assistant Special Prosecutor Park said, "We plan to send a public document to the director of the Seoul Detention Center again ordering him to bring in the suspect by 2 p.m. on the 15th. We hope that an investigation will be conducted tomorrow."
He added.
