Prior to the second statement, SOYOU posted on social media on the 19th, "We were treated like problem passengers because we requested a Korean flight attendant, and even security personnel were called in.
However, after SOYOU posted the comment, an internet user who claimed to have been on the same flight countered, saying, "SOYOU was drunk."
The incident happened on the way back to Korea after finishing a schedule in New York, and since it has been reported in the media, I would like to state my position once again.
I only had a small amount of alcohol served with my meal in the lounge before boarding, and the boarding process went smoothly.
After boarding, I again asked the flight attendant to confirm the meal time, but it was difficult to communicate as I am not fluent in English.
Since the flight was to Korea, I thought there would be a flight attendant who could speak Korean, and in the process of requesting this, my English was mistranslated and the wrong message was conveyed.
The flight attendants and security personnel came. At this time, a flight attendant who could speak Korean was with me and helped me with the conversation, but I was able to confirm everything without any problems and arrived on the plane as scheduled.
Although it started as a misunderstanding, there were many incidents afterwards that made me feel insulted. When I was walking from my seat to the restroom, I met a flight attendant who was providing cart service.
I was asked to move to one side of the hallway so that the cart could be moved. I did as requested and waited for the cart to pass, but the chief flight attendant immediately removed me from my position.
He instructed them to leave in a forceful manner, but instead, a flight attendant who had heard the loud voices explained that they were there at his request, but no apology was offered.
Furthermore, when I asked the staff member on board about a Korean menu, they gave me a menu in another language without any explanation, and the situation continued to be strange.
Although I apologized to the flight attendant who helped me by communicating with me in Korean, I was not responsible for all the incidents that occurred after boarding.
I still feel confused and regretful about the cold stares and attitudes that continued between the lines. I was unable to clearly express my concerns at the scene at the time, and I did not write this article to provide any assurance or expose anything.
I hope that no one will ever experience the same thing as me again, so I have mustered up the courage to write this on social media, and I hope that false information will not be exaggerated.
Finally, I would like to apologize to the passengers who were inconvenienced by the incident that occurred on board due to me.
