Brother-sister duo AKMU is leaving YG to pursue a new path. On the 21st, YG Entertainment announced, "About six months ago, executive producer Yang Hyun-suk left AKMU.
"AKMU's only concern is that they will continue to be with YG, with whom they have shared good times and bad times for the past 12 years.
"I honestly wondered whether I should continue working together with him or whether I should try going independent to take on a new challenge," he continued.
"Director Yang told AKMU, who was faced with two choices, to first leave YG.
He encouraged the members by saying that it would be a good experience for them to try out music in a new environment, and conveyed his heartfelt intention to support them from behind.
"With the support of their generous encouragement, AKMU has made the decision to try a new path after much deliberation," the group said, revealing that AKMU will be leaving YG.
YG said, "It was a great pleasure for us to be able to watch this brother-sister duo, who are filled with pure passion for music, grow step by step.
