U.S. Air Force official "will go to war with China within 2 years"
"The U.S. Air Force commander controversially warned his subordinates that the U.S. could go to war with China within two years. According to the news, Gen. Mike A. Minihan, commander of the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command, wrote in a memo to soldiers that "the United States may not be able to capture Chinese President Xi Jinping's aspirations for war. There is a possibility," he said, adding, "Prepare quickly for a potential clash between the United States and China."

"I hope I'm wrong," said General Minihan.

General Minihan cites "the timing of the US and Taiwan elections" as a reason.

General Minihan said, "President Xi has secured his term by being re-elected, and in October last year, he established a war advisory committee. It provides a reason for the war. In 2024, there will also be a US presidential election, and US attention will be diversified. President Xi's team, reasons and opportunities are all aligned with 2025."

General Minihan urged the thousands of soldiers to "prepare for the numbers of various situations, prepare for war," and instructed them to be particularly active in training.

After the memo circulated on social media, it sparked controversy, prompting an Air Force spokesman to put out the fire with a statement.

A spokesman for the US Department of Defense said on the same day, "US officials are working with our allies and friends to preserve a peaceful, free and open Indo-Pacific region."

"General Minihan's remarks do not represent the Defense Department's views on China," said a Defense Department official who requested anonymity.
