``The building shakes''... 21 people injured in a fire explosion at a public bath in Busan

It has been confirmed that the number of people injured in the explosion that occurred following the fire at a public bathhouse in Dong-gu, Busan has increased to 21 people in total.
According to the Busan Fire Department, a fire broke out at a public bathhouse in Jachon-dong, Busan's Dong-gu, around 1:40 p.m. on the 1st.
The fire was extinguished by the dispatched firefighters and did not lead to a major fire. However, a sudden secondary explosion occurred in the basement of the public bath, causing the wall to collapse and the fire to rapidly intensify.
Many people were injured. It was learned that a total of 21 people were injured, including two firefighters who suffered burns, eight firefighters, three police officers, six ward government employees, and four citizens.
The seriously injured person suffered second-degree burns to his face and first-degree burns to his arms and other parts of his body. Busan Dong-gu Mayor Kim Jin-hoon, who came to inspect the scene, was also injured by the debris and flames of the explosion and was hospitalized.
It was learned that he was being treated in the emergency room. A resident who lives near a public bathhouse said, ``There were two ``boom'' sounds and the building was shaking,'' adding, ``While firefighters were putting out the fire, there was an explosion.''
It appears that a fire occurred and several people, including firefighters and members of the public, were injured,'' he said, explaining the situation at the time of the accident. The bathhouse was not open that day, so there was no harm to customers.
The Busan Fire Department said at a press conference regarding the accident that the explosion is believed to have occurred in the boiler room where the fuel tank is located on the first basement floor.
A fire official said, ``The fire has not yet been completely extinguished, but is in the early stages of being extinguished.'' ``Currently, the temperature inside is up to 55 degrees.''
