60-year-old fined for making 18,660 prank calls to police = South Korea
A woman in her 60s who made prank calls to police over a period of more than a year has been sentenced to a fine. At the Daejeon District Court, Charge A was indicted on suspicion of violating the Misdemeanor Punishment Act.
It was announced on the 6th that the 62-year-old man was sentenced to a fine of 200,000 won (approximately 22,000 yen). Suspect A was at his home in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon City at around 11:48 a.m. on May 19th last year.
Using his mobile phone, he made an emergency call to the Daejeon Police Agency's 112 situation room (Japan's 110 number center) and started making prank calls for the first time with the content that the police are not doing their job properly.
After that, until April 13th, he made a total of 18,660 prank calls and was handed over to trial on suspicion of interfering with the work of police officials.
Suspect A repeatedly makes prank calls and hangs up without saying anything, so-called silent calls.
Ta. It was revealed that he was making up to 489 calls in one day at peak times.
