“Shame on the country”: Korean man who forced minors into “human trafficking” and “prostitution” overseas
A South Korean national was arrested by police on suspicion of operating a karaoke parlor in Argentina, South America, engaging in prostitution, and forcing women into prostitution.
According to the Argentine Federal Police on the 3rd (local time), Bajo, the center of the capital Buenos Aires,
・Seven people, including a Korean man, were arrested in the Flores area on suspicion of operating two Korean-style karaoke shops and engaging in illegal prostitution.
Police said, ``We rescued 30 multinational women who were at a karaoke bar and other places,'' including ``one minor.''
"Measures have been taken to protect crime victims." Local media reported that the nationalities of the women included Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela.
Police added, ``Based on the victims' statements, the suspects are also suspected of human trafficking and sexual exploitation crimes.''
The Argentine Federal Police posted a photo of the suspect on social media and wrote, ``We have rounded up a Korean organization suspected of human trafficking through sexual exploitation.''
The Bajo Flores area was once one of the first settlements for Koreans who immigrated to Argentina, and a Korean community still exists today.
