「インタビュー」パク・ソジュン、「分かれた評価?動揺や心配はなかった」
Park Seo Jun, ”Divided evaluation? I wasn't upset or worried.”
Actor Park Seo Jun reveals his thoughts on the mixed reviews of "Gyeongseong Creature."

Part 2 of the Netflix series "Gyeongseong Creature" unveiled this month. "Gyeongseong Creature" tells the story of two men and women whose survival is all that matters in the spring of 1945, when the darkness of the times was at its darkest, and they confront a monster born out of greed, Park So-jung plays Jang Tae-sang, Gyeongseong's top informant, and Han So-hee plays Yoon Chae-ok, a manhunt specialist.

In an interview with Herald POP at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 11th, Park So-joon said, "It's hard to tell the reactions to the show compared to the past. I asked people around me what they thought. I also read articles early on. I am most happy that so many people are watching the show. I think there was that much interest. I am grateful.

After "Gyeongseong Creature" was released, it received mixed reviews. Park Seo-jung said, "There were various evaluations. It is not up to me to decide the method of release, so I cannot influence it. When I first watched the edited video, I felt that episode 7 was chapter 1 and episode 8 to the ending was chapter 2. I thought it would be good to watch it this way. I am a person who likes to watch all the episodes at once, but I thought there was a sense of anticipation created by dividing the episodes into parts. Even though the film received mixed reviews, I was not upset by it," he said.

Because the film dealt with the era of Japanese colonial rule, it must not have been easy for him to appear in the film. I have been active for more than 10 years, and I wanted to experience a film that depicts that era (the Japanese colonial era)," he said. A film is not something you can do just because you want to do it. Everything has to fit together. It had to be my time and the other actor's time, and there had to be actors who had the same ideas. I wanted to do a film set against the backdrop of a bygone era, and the offer to do "Gyeongseong Creature" came at just the right time," he said.

Park Seo-jung, who is also a popular actor in Japan, said, "I went to Japan last week. I had some Japanese friends and asked them what they thought. He said that the response was good and gave him a lot to think about. I am not particularly worried about my schedule in Japan," he added.

He said he was satisfied after watching "Gyeongseong Creature" and added, "I spent two years on this film. It was the first time I worked on it this long, and the first time I waited for every moment. When I saw the footage in the editing stage, the CG and music had not yet been added, so I had high expectations for the finished film. The time we spent working together was great.

Park Seo-jung, who had many action scenes, said, "I always get injured. It is difficult not to get hurt, but I try not to get hurt. It's fine during rehearsals, but sometimes I overdo it on the set. Recently, my joints have been in bad shape, but it hasn't been enough to have a big impact (on the shoot) and hasn't been a hindrance," he informed.
