IBS strengthens global research collaboration with Japan's RIKEN
National basic science research institutes representing both Japan and South Korea will strengthen global research cooperation. Korea's Institute of Basic Science (hereinafter referred to as IBS), along with Japan's RIKEN (hereinafter referred to as RIKEN)
The ``3rd RIKEN/IBS Joint Conference'' will be held at the RIKEN Nishina Accelerator Science Research Center for two days starting on the 25th.
On this day, IBS Director Noh Do Yeong and RIKEN Chairman Makoto Gonokami held a meeting of directors to promote strategic international cooperation between the two countries.
We plan to discuss plans for this research. The two institutions signed a business agreement in 2015 with the aim of advancing science in both countries, and have held joint conferences since 2016.
This third conference will be held with the theme of nuclear physics. The results of joint research in the field of nuclear physics conducted by both institutions to date will be shared and discussions will be held for progress.
Meanwhile, on the 25th, the IBS Rare Nuclear Research Group will conclude a business agreement with RIKEN Nishina Accelerator Science Research Center for joint research in the field of nuclear physics. RIKEN Nishina Accelerator Science Research Center
Since the 1990s, it has operated the heavy Eon accelerator facility, RIBF, which is a symbol of Japan's nuclear physics research and has discovered Nihonium, the former element number 113 on the periodic table. Until now IB
The S Rare Nuclear Research Group and the Heavy Eon Accelerator Facility "RIBF" have been conducting joint research and personnel exchanges. Research utilizing IBS's heavy Eon accelerator facility "RAON" has begun in earnest this year.
To achieve this goal, the two institutions have decided to strengthen the ongoing joint research between RAON and RIBF through an agreement.
