Are medical students taking action against the policy to increase the number of medical faculty? ...Approximately 160 medical students at Wonkwang University submitted their first collective leave of absence notification = South Korea
Approximately 160 medical students at Wongwang University submitted a collective leave of absence in protest against the South Korean government's policy to increase the number of medical faculty. This is the first time that medical school students have submitted a collective leave of absence.
Become. On the 18th, the Ministry of Education revealed that about 160 medical students at Wonkwang University had applied for a leave of absence. After medical school students across the country decided to take a leave of absence from the alliance, they actually submitted their leave of absence notices.
This is the first case at Enko University. In addition, on the 15th, Hanlim University announced a policy for fourth-year students to take a group leave of absence. However, until now, students have not actually submitted notifications for leave of absence.
It was confirmed that there were no students who did so. The remaining medical schools that have decided to take a leave of absence from the alliance announced on the 20th that they will submit a notification for a leave of absence to accompany the student.
According to Enkwang University's academic regulations, parental consent is required in order to process a leave of absence. When submitting a leave of absence notification
must also go through the department chair. However, no student has yet submitted a written consent form from a parent or guardian. Because it was submitted electronically, the procedure to go through the department chair was not followed.
The Ministry of Education said, ``We have advised students to follow Wonkwang University's academic regulations regarding whether or not to process leave of absence notifications.'' Prior to this, South Korea's Ministry of Education announced that medical students were taking collective action, such as taking an alliance leave of absence.
In response, a ``National University Hospital and Medical School Situation Task Force'' was established within the Ministry of Education. We operate an emergency communication system with 40 medical schools nationwide, and constantly check student trends and measures at each university.
Regarding the submission of collective leave of absence notifications by medical students, the Ministry of Education said, ``As alliance leave of absence does not meet the requirements for leave of absence, we hope that it will not be approved.''
We requested the university to do so.
