Changnyeong Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 22nd, ``Suspect A, a national of Uzbekistan, has been arrested and is being investigated on suspicion of special robbery.''
According to the police, Suspect A broke into a house in Changnyeong County on the 15th of this month at around 9:00 p.m. and attacked Mr. B (70 years old, female) with a deadly weapon.
He is accused of threatening someone and stealing 260,000 won (approximately 30,000 yen) in cash. Afterwards, they took Mr. B to a nearby bank ATM and withdrew 3 million won (approximately 340,000 yen) from him.
He then ran away. As a result of the police investigation, Suspect A traveled 7 hours by bicycle from his lodging in Daegu to Changnyeong, 65 kilometers away, in order to conceal the crime.
I found out that I had done it. After committing the crime, Suspect A ran out of energy while returning to Daegu on his bicycle, contacted an acquaintance in Daegu, put the bicycle in his car, and fled.
However, Suspect A's behavior became an important clue for the police to catch him. Police became suspicious of a man who was traveling on a bicycle during the time of the crime.
They identified Suspect A as a likely suspect after tracing his movements, and on the 20th, he was arrested at a female friend's house in Daegu. Suspect A is an Uzbek in his 30s who used to work as an agricultural worker in Changnyeong.
It turned out that he was an illegal immigrant with Stan nationality. Suspect A entered South Korea on a language training visa in January 2018, and even though the period of stay (6 months) had passed, he remained in South Korea as an illegal resident.
It stayed still. Suspect A was familiar with the geography of Changnyeong, where he had previously worked, but he did not plan the target of the crime in advance, but decided on the target of the crime after arriving in Changnyeong and wandering around for about two hours.
This was investigated.
