On the 6th, the lawsuit filed by Jang Won-yeong's side against the Cyberwrecker's YouTube channel received a decision for mediation with an attached arbitration.
The 9th-3rd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court made a decision to mediate the case of Jang Won-yeong's lawsuit against the operator of the channel for damages worth KRW 100 million. Conciliation is a procedure carried out when the court decides that a settlement should be facilitated rather than a judgment, and if both parties agree, the lawsuit will be terminated.
In July 2023, Jang Won-yeong's side filed a lawsuit for damages on the grounds that the YouTube channel had published a video with edited false information about K-pop artists and that they had been damaged by it. The case was subsequently partially won in October last year, but the operators of the channel appealed against the first instance decision and filed an appeal.
On the 17th January last year, Jang Won-yong's agency, STARSHIP Entertainment, had issued a statement saying that the company would not agree to any future defamation or additional damage to the artist and would take all possible legal action, but then the decision to mediate with the company was announced, the possibility of an agreement between the two sides has been the focus of attention.
In this connection, an official from STARSHIP Entertainment said, "As stated in the official announcement on the 17th January, we have no separate comment regarding proceeding with the lawsuit to the end without agreement. We will make an official announcement on any further developments".
