「お母さん、私拉致された」…留学に行った娘からの突然の電話、実は=韓国
”Mom, I've been abducted”...A sudden phone call from my daughter who went to study abroad, actually = South Korea
In South Korea, there has recently been an increase in fraudulent crimes in which people pretend to be family members or acquaintances and threaten them as if they were in an emergency situation, so special caution is required.
According to the Seogwipo Police Station on the 18th, at around 9:10 pm on the 15th, Mr. A, who lives in Seogwipo City, left the city in Chicago, USA.
Suddenly, I received a phone call from my daughter who was studying. The daughter, trembling in fear and sobbing, said, ``Mom, I've been abducted.''
When Mr. A heard the story, his heart sank. Shortly after, a man answered the phone and said,
"If I don't send 10 million won in cash, my daughter will be harmed," he threatened. In addition, the blackmailer continued to talk to Mr. A so that he could not report it to the police, while asking Mr. A's husband, Mr. B, to turn off his mobile phone.
I asked him to hang up and stay close to Mr. A. Fortunately, Mr. B was able to listen to Mr. A's phone call and called the police just before the incident.
A patrol team from the Andoku police box was dispatched after receiving the report, in order to find out the exact location.
I contacted Mr. B, but his cell phone was disconnected and I could not reach him, so I intuited that it was a wire transfer scam and tracked his location.
During this process, Mr. A and his wife, the blackmailer, heard the sound of a police siren and went to the police.
When I realized that I had made a report, I hung up the phone. Mr. A and his wife were shocked and tried to contact their daughter, but they could not get through on the phone.
Coincidentally, Mr. and Mrs. A's daughter attended a school event at around 2:30 a.m. (Korean time) that day, about 19 hours before the threatening phone call.
I was scheduled to board a flight from Chicago to Taiwan. Therefore, I don't know if my daughter was actually abducted or if she is still on the flight and cannot be contacted.
Ta. The police continued to contact the Korean Consulate General in Chicago to confirm whether Mr. and Mrs. A's daughter had boarded the flight, and they confirmed that Mr. A's daughter had boarded the flight.
Afterwards, Mr. B contacted his daughter who had gotten off the plane and confirmed that nothing was wrong with her.
