Nambu Power, together with the South Korean government and Busan Metropolitan City, has decided to install solar power generation systems on the roofs of 20 companies in the Noksan Industrial Complex in Busan.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation will work with Busan city to promote the "Construction and operation of energy self-sufficiency infrastructure for industrial complexes" in 2023.
In April of the same year, Nambu Power, a public power generating corporation, was selected as the lead agency for the project. Nambu Power was selected by the Grand Sun Technology Group, Apex Intec A to participate in the project.
The consortium was formed with nine companies and institutions, including BMM, SK C&C, KT, and Busan Techno Park.
Nambu Power will invest a total of 33.1 billion won (US$37.2 million) over the three years until 2025.
In order to promote this project, we signed a business agreement with the remaining eight organizations in August of the same year and started the project. We will build a renewable energy infrastructure, including the installation of solar power generation equipment on the roofs of the tenant companies.
In addition to advancing this project, the company will also work in parallel to build an energy management system for the factory and to improve the renewable energy power generation prediction system.
In particular, Nambu Power, with the cooperation of Busan City, is installing solar panels on the roofs of companies that are the core of the entire project.
The project is expected to promote smooth business operations by inviting 20 companies to participate and set up facilities. Participating companies will also be required to meet the international renewable energy power usage requirements, such as RE100.
A Nambu Power representative said, "Through this project, we will be able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,240 tons per year, while also saving 600 million won (about 67 million yen) in electricity bills per year.
"We expect this to have a cost-saving effect," he said, adding, "In the long term, this will contribute to improving the industrial competitiveness of the Busan region and achieving carbon neutrality for the nation."
Nambu Power President Lee Seung-woo said, "We will continue to actively promote energy efficiency projects and cooperate with the local community in order to comply with the government's energy demand management policy."
"It will also contribute to the implementation of climate change policies and achieving national carbon neutrality."
