South Korea's ruling party leader: ”I was not up to the task”... ”I will know what needs to be changed and make the necessary corrections”
Han Dong-hoon, a member of the ruling People Power Party, who stepped down from his position as emergency response committee chairman to take responsibility for the defeat in the general elections for the National Assembly (held on April 10), said, "Let us be fully disappointed with the results."
In a message sent to ruling party officials and aides on the morning of the 13th, Han said, "We will know what needs to be corrected and correct it, but we will still try our best."
"I hope that we can find a way to be loved by the people," he said. "I know better than anyone how hard my beloved party colleagues and aides have worked," he said. "I thank you all for your donations.
"I believe that you were the force that protected the country and the party until the very end, even in difficult circumstances," he said. "I regret that I had to leave so suddenly and was unable to say goodbye to each of my fellow party officials and aides.
"It was great to be able to work with you all. I look forward to working with you all."
