12 tourists killed after 'unauthorized' sightseeing boat capsizes in China's Qinhuangdao - Chinese report

A pleasure boat capsized in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, China, killing 12 passengers. On the afternoon of the 13th, a pleasure boat capsized in a river in Qinhuangdao, and all 31 passengers were in the water.
All were later rescued and taken to hospital, but 12 of them were confirmed dead. Currently, 10 are hospitalized and undergoing treatment, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The remaining 9 have returned home.
According to the Hebei Province accident investigation team, on the 13th, 155 tourists from Tangshan City boarded a tour bus arranged by a travel agency and visited Qinhuangdao City. Of those, 31 people went sightseeing after lunch.
The boat capsized when it was boarded. It is known that the sightseeing boat was operating without a license. The police are currently detaining the boat owner and relevant responsible persons and are investigating the cause of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
