One Chinese killed, one injured in knife attack in Sydney, Australia - Chinese media
On the 14th, the Chinese embassy and consulate in Sydney, Australia announced that they had not taken any responsibility for the murder incident that occurred on the 13th when a man with a knife attacked shoppers at a shopping mall in Sydney.
"After several rounds of communication with the Australian side, we have confirmed that one Chinese national has died and one has been injured in the incident," the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney said on the 14th.
"We have confirmed that people were injured," he said, adding, "We will be in contact with the families of the deceased, relevant departments in China, and the Australian side, and will do our utmost to provide support."
According to a Chinese embassy official, the two killed and injured were both international students. One of the injured was seriously injured.
"Arrangements are being made for the families to travel to Australia. The Australian side has offered its condolences to the Chinese nationals killed and its sympathies to the families of the deceased and those injured."
