尹大統領、駐国連米大使に接見…「イスラエル・イラン問題の早期終結を共に努力」
President Yoon meets with U.S. ambassador to the UN... ”We will work together to quickly resolve the Israel-Iran issue”
The South Korean presidential office said on the same day, "President Yoon Seok-yeol met with US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who is visiting South Korea, on the 15th."
The two sides agreed to work together to ensure that the conflict between Israel and Iran and Hamas is resolved as soon as possible, and to consider the energy and economic impacts of the Middle East situation.
As problems in the economy and supply chains, as well as in the areas of cyber and climate change, are likely to lead to military, political, and diplomatic conflict, it is necessary to continue comprehensive and strategic cooperation between the United States and South Korea.
President Yoon said, "The ROK-U.S. alliance has developed over the past 70 years based on the universal values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, and is moving toward becoming a global comprehensive strategic alliance."
"I hope that South Korea and the United States will work closely together to ensure that the UN Security Council can fulfill its role," he said. "We will firmly uphold the UN sanctions regime against North Korea and work with other member states to ensure that the Security Council can fulfill its role."
"We must also continue to strengthen cooperation within the Security Council to implement the resolutions passed by the Security Council," Ambassador Greenfield said.
"We actively support the South Korean government's efforts to promote human rights in North Korea and will continue to cooperate closely with South Korea on North Korea issues and major global challenges."
