North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education strongly denounces ”historical distortion” in Japan's diplomatic bluebook - Korean media
On the 16th, the Gyeongsangbuk-do (North Gyeongsang Province) Office of Education in South Korea announced that the Japanese government had distorted history by claiming in its Diplomatic Bluebook that "Takeshima (Korean name: Dokdo/Lokdo) is an inherent part of Japanese territory."
In a statement released on the same day, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education said, "We demand that the government immediately retract any historical distortions regarding Liancourt Rocks, which is an inherent part of the territory of the Republic of Korea, and that the government should promote the development of Northeast Asia.
"The Japanese government calls the Republic of Korea's 'Dokdo' 'Takeshima' and claims that it is Japanese territory based on historical and international law.
"The Japanese government's false statements regarding Liancourt Rocks and the issue of former forced laborers are a serious and grave challenge to the sovereignty and people of the Republic of Korea," it said.
"We vigorously denounce the historical distortions being made by Japan and demand that it immediately retract them," he said, adding, "The Japanese government must stop its unconscionable historical distortions and work together with us toward peace in Northeast Asia so that future generations can live on."
We should move forward," he said.
