On the afternoon of the 15th, several photos taken at the scene of the accident were posted online. The escalator was littered with fallen wall tiles, among which was a woman.
One person was found lying face up. An internet user who was at the scene of the accident said, "I was at the exit of the escalator when I heard a loud bang. The woman was hit by a wall tile.
"I saw a huge blood coming out of the woman's head," he wrote. Another netizen said, "The woman was pregnant."
When a local media reporter spoke to the family of the injured woman, they learned that she had been taken to hospital for treatment.
The woman is pregnant and is still in critical condition. The tiles in the collapsed wall are believed to be the exterior wall of a shopping mall adjacent to Nanping Station.
A representative from Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Co., Ltd. said, "This is not an area we are responsible for, so we do not know the specific situation."
