North Gyeongsang Province Governor Demands Retraction of Japan's Diplomatic Bluebook's ”Distortion of Liancourt Rocks and Unjust Claim of Sovereignty” = South Korea
The Korean government of Gyeongsangbuk-do (North Gyeongsang Province) commented on the Diplomatic Bluebook released by the Japanese government on the 16th that "there have been repeated historical distortions regarding Dokdo (Long Islands, Japanese name: Takeshima), which is the soil of the Republic of Korea."
On the same day, North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo issued a denunciation statement stating, "Dokdo is a historical, geographical and internationally important island.
"Legally, it is clearly the inherent territory of the Republic of Korea," it said, adding, "We will take a firm and stern stance against Japan's unjust claims to Dokdo."

"Repeating unjustified claims to sovereignty over Dokdo in the letter is a provocative act that impedes the building of a future-oriented Korea-Japan relationship."
Governor Lee added, "The Japanese government has a correct understanding of history and is future-oriented.
"I hope that we can move forward into an era of friendly exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Japan."
