Heavy rains affect 6,221 people in China's Jiangxi province, 1 person killed by lightning strike - Chinese reports

Heavy rains fell in Jiangxi Province, China on the 16th, causing a total of 6,221 deaths in seven counties (cities, districts), including Hukou County, Shangli County, and Yuanzhou District, Yichun City.
1000 people were affected. In addition, one person died from lightning in Luan County, Fuzhou City. The damage to the fields caused by the heavy rains was about 1,000 hectares throughout Jiangxi Province.
The damage to 106 buildings was slight and one building was severe, resulting in direct economic losses of 12.83 million former (approximately 274 million yen).
Provincial authorities are still assessing the damage.
