President Yoon Seok-yeol held a telephone conversation with Indonesia's newly elected President-elect Prabowo Subianto and discussed measures for cooperation between the two countries.
In a telephone interview on the 17th, President Yoon congratulated President-elect Prabowo on his election victory, saying, "I will work closely with the president-elect to further strengthen the 'special strategic partnership' between Korea and Indonesia."
"We hope to strengthen our ties with Indonesia, which is a core partner in the 'ASEAN-ROK Solidarity Initiative,'" the presidential office said.
"I hope that we will continue to work hard to achieve prosperity," he said. Meanwhile, President-elect Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory messages on his election victory, saying, "I consider Korea to be an important partner of Indonesia."
He added, "I hope to further expand cooperation with South Korea in various fields after I become president."
The two leaders announced in October that the two countries will continue to cooperate on defense and electric vehicle manufacturing even after the new Indonesian government takes office.
The President's Office said the two sides agreed to continue expanding strategic and future-oriented cooperation in areas such as infrastructure.
